"DI.DA, not just a label"
Ilaria Bollati and Marta Spanevello
Corraini Edizioni
We never seem to be completely happy with labels in museum, and we have all complained about them. These devices, though they may seem like minute details, are as crucial as they are debated. They influence the exhibition design, they affect the visitor experience. But what do they need to be like to make their mark? When do they intervene and to whom do they speak? Are there rules in crafting them?
Ilaria Bollati and Marta Spanevello investigate the topic, turning to experts from the worlds of art, design, film, music, psychology, communication… – including Paola Antonelli, Ludovico Einaudi, Shirin Neshat, Massimo Recalcati, Andrée Ruth Shammah, and Bill Sherman. Starting from the contributions of the experts interviewed, the authors stage seven conversations, dialogues that never existed but in these pages, conveying a pluralitỳ of visions, perspectives and voices on the subject.
No certain rules or prescriptions, but cues and questions for greater awareness.
